Job Description :
  • Responsible for prior art search for assessing the patentability of invention disclosures; and for assessing the validity of a granted patent. Knowledge and hands on experience of search engines meant for prior art searching are desirable.

Job Responsibility :
  • Searches in own technical area, initially under the guidance of a coach/mentor and independently within a short period of time.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of IP search tools, standard applications, IP business process software, databases and documentation
  • Possesses basic knowledge of patentability
  • Aware of latest developments in own technical area; Knowledge of wide range of Philips products and the competitors’ is a definite plus
  • Possesses good technical knowledge of English to the extent of  formulation of search queries with synonyms.
  • Possesses analytical skills to extract the essence of an invention
  • Open and willing to diversify into adjacent technical areas through self-learning
  • Communicates effectively with IP Counsels for clarifications and while forming the search criteria
Requirements :
  • Solves straightforward, well defined problems within own field of expertise
  • Assembles and consolidates relevant information and applies standard methodologies for IP analysis
  • Acquires relevant knowledge, e.g. of search techniques/tools and patent law and documentation.
  • Participates actively in the knowledge sharing initiatives to enrich own and others’ knowledge, learning while doing, e.g. Weekly alerts,
  • Search tools and presentations on typical searches.
